About the project

Backend.AI is a versatile cluster backend designed for AI frameworks in both cloud and on-premise setups. Supporting everything from educational AI training to mega-scale infrastructure, it efficiently manages resources for large computational workloads. It includes support for Generative AI models, catering to varied applications like chatbots and image creation. Its unique fractional GPU resourcing offers scalable, cost-effective solutions for AI services, enhancing capabilities in areas like mobile app development and visual AI creativity. Backend.AI has began its journey since 2015 and is still in active development up to date.
Backend.AI Agent is one of the key components composing entire Backend.AI cluster, which performs following features:

• Reports the status and available resource slots of a worker to the manager
• Routes code execution requests to the designated kernel container
• Manages the lifecycle of kernel containers (create/monitor/destroy them)

How large is each release?

~40 MiB total. One platform-independent wheel and one source distribution which in general does not exceed 20 MiB each.

How frequently do you make a release?

For stable version, roughly twice a week. Each release is concluded after publishing multiple beta and RC release.
