Account recovery request #4437

Reason for request

Hello there!

A former employee at our company Anvil had set up the python_anvil package under an account he controlled (allan-anvil/ allan@useanvil.com), but before he left we never got other users from our company associated with that package. 🤦‍♂️

We are now trying to publish updates, but do not have access.

We do have access to his email address, and I was able to reset his password...however, it appears that he had 2FA on the account. Is there a way to disable the 2FA on his account so I can log in?

I think there are a few packages under that work account that we'd like to associate with other users at our company, as well as a generic "service account" we use (anvilbot).

Thank you for your help, Chris

Hi @newhouse,

I think a better workaround for your situation is to associate the account for "allan-anvil" with an alternate email address (it can be a common "generic-email@useanvil.com" and then we can reset the 2FA and recovery codes to that new email address. That way, you can log in and transfer ownership of projects as needed.

To start the process, please contact support@pypi.org with an alternate email address that you would like the account to be associated with and please reference this link (https://github.com/pypi/support/issues/4437). We will proceed from there. Thanks!
