This is a backport of PR #12553 as merged into main (51ee3880c7cf2552fa5e114d5c88e83a73901a1e).

Reverts pytest-dev/pytest#12516.

https://github.com/codecov/codecov-cli/pull/464 has been released in codecov-cli v0.7.2 so this hack should no longer be necessary.
