Erratic behaviour in Debian Unstable and Arch

I have tried using ropevim in Debian Sid and Arch via the Python-Mode plugin pack (https://github.com/klen/python-mode) and also stand alone. I found the following problems:

• RopeOpenProject: Doesn't ask for project folder (as it should) but automatically creates .ropeproject in the current folder.
• RopeRename: In Debian it doesn't work, initially it prompts for a new name but afterwards nothing (no preview/perform/etc prompt). In Arch it prompts correctly but tries to search outside the project path (e.g. it found occurences in folders .neocon (neocomplete cache) and .vimundo).
• RopeGotoDefinition: Works within the same file and for system libraries (e.g os, sys etc) and for system wide libraries (e.g. numpy,scipy).
• Running the file also presents an empty scratch window with nothing in it.
• Completion works as it should I think.

There might be problems with other functions but I have not tested them all.

Sys config: Python 2.7 Vim 7.3 (features Huge (debian), Big (arch)) Rope, Ropemode, Ropevim (latest either in python-mode, or installed through pip)

On the debian system I have also tried using Rope,Ropemode in Emacs with ropemacs and they all work as they should.

Please, @imoschak could you please tell me which part of this ticket is still relevant, and why this shouldn't be resolved in the https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=python-rope ?
