Email sent. January will be difficult though. Exam session is from 18.1. to 20.2. Maybe we could also do the conference in KW 8 or 9 (22.2.-4.3.)?
I think we should for the moment focus on the venue possibilities, and decide about the date later. Me and Stephane Poss we are in Neuchâtel. Would this be an option for you? What are we looking for? How many people are we expecting? I know it is not an easy question...
We're mostly looking in the Zürich region, as we have quite an active Python meetup community here and are ourselves also located in this region.
In the beginning of August we'll know whether we could do it at the HSR in Rapperswil SG. It's a great location next to the lake and @sfkeller (a professor at HSR) is interested in helping.
I'd say we should plan for 50-100 people, and maybe limit the possible registrations to 100 or max 120. Let's keep this simple.
OK, good news: We can get a room at HSR, sponsored by the HSR, as long as we don't make profit! And we have to add them as official sponsor.
There are two rooms that we could use. The first one fits 130 people and looks like this:
(It's actually a bit longer than that.)
The second room fits 80 people.
We could get coffee and croissants from the Cafeteria during the entire day. They would be served in a different building though.
Lunch can be eaten at the HSR Mensa: http://hochschule-rapperswil.sv-group.ch/de.html Cost is around 11 CHF per person excluding drinks.
If you agree to definitely accept that offer, we'd have to choose a date ASAP. I'll defer that discussion to #4.
For the finances, see #8.
Here are some impressions from the Swiss Postgres Conference 2015 at HSR Rapperswil (where the conference mainly took place in room 5.002): https://twitter.com/hashtag/SwissPGC
Is there any downside to us taking the bigger room? Apart from it possibly being somewhat empty? If not I would prefer the bigger room to allow for some fragmentation ;)
I think the only downside is that you cannot get out of the row if someone's sitting besides you. So we'll have the same issues as at EuroPython. But I'm pretty sure we can handle that by requesting people to move towards the middle before every talk (which wasn't being done at EP). (And if we're less than 130 people it won't be a problem anyways.)
Let's accept the offer. I don't think we can something better soon.
OK, then we can close this :)
I updated the README accordingly.
I will write to HSR.
