The yellow text (2013 and NIMHANS) is not visible clearly. I think it requires more contrast.

Here is now it looks when more content is added. (Removed the background image as it was taking too much width from top).

How about putting the nav below the logo?

You mean like so - smallheader

You are scaling it and putting it there, that is why some stuff is not readable. Do you have a particular size in which you need to fit this?

Do you mean to say that #1 still needs work? This is a sample image, not CSS, Photoshop does some antialiasing stuff.
