looks like the submodule was not up-to-date?

hmm, I pulled from main - and my previous pr landed green ..

I think for submodules you'll also need 

git submodule sync --recursive
git submodule update --init --recursive

@bearzx Tests pass, if it looks good will revert to schedule and merge.
