I'm not very familiar with submodules, but it seems like that might be a better approach to keeping up to date with dcjones' version. Of course, he might make changes that would be incompatible with the python wrapper, so maybe it's fine to keep it this way. Just a thought.

I haven't used a submodule initially because I was maintaining an official hg mirror of this wrapper at bitbucket, but this mirror is no longer maintained. So +1 to use git submodules (you can specify a commit number, so upstream updates are not an issue).
