Feature Request

Describe the solution you'd like Something similar to #2584 and #2621 (If exists) to improve execution time and memory consume for AMI L1B reader. Thanks!

I created this functionality in those other pull requests, but I don't think I will have any funding or time to accomplish the same for AMI any time soon. If someone else would like to try it that would be much appreciated.
