ACM论文原述

1979年的ACM图灵奖，由颁奖委员会主席Walter Carlson于1979年10月29日在密歇根州底特律举行的ACM年会上颁发给Kenneth E. Iverson。候选阶段，通用技术成就奖委员会引用了Iverson在编程语言和数学符号方面的开创性努力（现如今计算领域所知的APL由此而来），并以此作表彰。该表彰同时提到了，Iverson在实现交互系统、使用APL进行实用教学以及编程语言理论和相关实践等方面做出的贡献。

Iverson，1954年加拿大生人，后于哈佛大学获得博士学位。1955年至1960年，任哈佛应用数学助理教授。随后，他加入了IBM，并于1970年被任命为IBM资深研究员[IBM Fellow]，以表彰他对APL研发所作的贡献。目前[1979年]，Iverson博士在多伦多的I.P. Sharp Associates任职。此前，他发表了大量关于编程语言的文章，并撰写了四本关于编程和数学的书籍：A Programming Language (1962), Elementary Functions (1966), Algebra: An Algorithmic Treatment (1972), and Elementary Analysis (1976).
