Need status confirmation #582

Just wondering if this plugin is still being maintained or already abandoned? I don't want my site to break because of compatibility issue with the future Wordpress version.

Unfortunately, if you check out the other recent github issues, you'll find that this plugin does not appear to be officially maintained at the moment. There are people who have been writing code and potential forks but there has only been silence from the repo owner.

WordPress 5.0 will likely break this plugin unless you disable the new Gutenberg editor, which is possible with a plugin from WordPress.

Have a look at #579, #524, etc. etc.

Lots of people use this plugin. It's better than any other option out there. It looks like the community is big / talented enough to maintain it. Just needs to be opened up by @johnclause

@colinloretz I've just tried Gutenberg with qTranslate-X and there's no major issue.

There are no buttons for the languages in the editor, but you can enter translations between [:en][:it][:we][:] shortcodes, which is really good. You can't have whole distinct post contents for each language, so you can't change the layout between languages, but that's a feature I never liked anyway, and I always considered it a design flaw instead.

@lucrus73 that's good to hear. Sounds like we largely need to get the language switching buttons integrated into Gutenberg. I haven't tackled that yet but it appears to be next on my plate.
