Yes, this is bugging me also forever. My VPN randomly shuts down or reconnects and qBT is just sitting there, waiting to be relaunched whenever I notice the issue.
This issue is discussed in https://github.com/arvidn/libtorrent/issues/4412 I can't find any other dedicated issue for this but i'm sure i've seen this discussed elsewhere.
I've just switched from Deluge to qBittorent and after several days noticed this re-connection problem too. I use v4.3.4, WIn 10, Surfshark VPN
At the time of my original post back in August 2019 when I had the issue, I was using IPVanish. Ever since switching to PIA (Private Internet Access) VPN I never ran into this issue again. All in all, PIA has proven to be way more reliable and convenient in my personal use case and experience.
How can it possibly depend on a VPN provider when it's just another Network Connection added the way app sees it. Also as I've noticed in my post, I had everything working just fine with Deluge. So in my case the only thing that has changed was the torrent client.
I had this isssue with qbittorent for many updates and a popular vpn on Windows 10 2004 and pior.
out of curiosity i ve gone through my settings again in my vpn clients and everythings is ok.
So i ve checked qbittorent and i figured that the one that i framed in red in the screenshot is faulty :
Changing to 'All addresses' fixed my problem for today !
@yanisallouch yesterday i created an issue (https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/15253), to my surprise the exact opposite of what you wrote fixed the issue for me. So i set it from 'All addresses' to 'All IPV4 addresses' and now after a network change qbittorrent reconnects and the DHT nodes come back up.
closing as duplicate as the other one has more details https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/12925
Longstanding issue, see details here: https://qbforums.shiki.hu/index.php/topic,2921.0.html
