New Status: "Archived" #11878

I wish to request a new Status that the user can manually put torrents into and pull torrents out of, The Status mode would be named Archived.

While a torrent is set to Archived, qBittorrent will not attempt to read the download contents while loading up. All information is retained, including download progress, added/completed on timestamps, tags, etc. Torrents set to Archived will not be displayed under any of the other Status modes except for All, but will return to their previous Status modes when removed from Archived.

If a magnet or torrent file is re-Added to qBittorrent while the torrent is Archived, it will acquire any new trackers, but will not change status and will remain Archived and dormant.

This will help users better manage their libraries, retain historical information, and prevent the accidental downloading of duplicates. Users might specifically add unwanted or blacklisted torrents to their Archived list to prevent accidental automated download. Archiving old moved torrents, instead of just leaving them paused, should greatly speed up qBittorrent's initial start up since it doesn't have to search hard disks for thousands of old missing torrents.

Hard agree, I used uT before mgirating to qB for security reasons and the ability to use my torrent client as a sort of external drive is sorely missed.

Came here to suggest something similar. I want to delete hundreds of torrents that I have already downloaded and sent to another drive, but since I mass download .magnets or torrent files, I'll get duplicates. I just want to mark a torrent as "archived" so it doesn't use any resources from qbt and avoids duplicates from being added.

This doesn't have to be automatic, but preferably so.

Right now I'm using tags as a replacement.

I think this would a really useful feature too!

How are you doing it? Does it work without having to get torrents to error out?

tristanleboss commented 2 years ago

That would be an amazing feature indeed!

This would also cover the use cases from feature request #4965, highly ranked in search engine results when looking for this kind of functionality (and too hastily dismissed, in my opinion).

(By adding this comment, I was expecting to see this issue appear as referenced in #4965, to lead people here, but it seems said issue being locked prevents that).
