4 years ago In my situation, which was identical to yours as far as I could tell, it all had to with some weird setting on my Arris [fiber] router that was preventing me from accessing the Jackett service when I was connected to my VPN. I'm not sure what I did to fix the issue. But, just like you, it wasn't specific to a version of qB, json/api, or python. I think it was some sort of built in protection that I'd accidentally triggered. I'm currently trying to troubleshoot duplicate results that are alluvasudden appearing the last 2 days on Jackett only, like 8-20 dupes from each search engine on Jackett. Really frustrating.

What is the problem
When trying to search jackett gives the following error: Jackett: api key error! Right-click this row and select 'Open description page' to open help. Configuration file: 'C:\Users\domin\AppData\Local\qBittorrent\nova3\engines\jackett.json' Search: 'godfather'
Also, the only search plugin that shows any results is legittorrents while I have many installed such as 1337x btbit eztv kickass rarbg torlock torrents-csv yts and zooqle.
I don't get expected results I used to get for obvious searches such as godfather, the, how, etc.
What is the expected behavior
Search results show up from all search plugins.

I have already checked the json file of jackett and this problem was present before and after i updated from 4.1.3 to 4.2.5
