Untik this option from qbittorrent settings and apply. It will stop the auto-start. Most apps have option to disable auto start.
Well thats the problem. The linux version doesnt have this option, and its also not in my startup files
@liasssimon , oh sorry, I didn't notice your OS in the description. My bad.
You should look into /etc/systemd/system for systemd units related to qBt.
its also not in my startup files
It's definitely out there somewhere. Otherwise, how would the system run it? A non running program cannot start itself.
Cant find nothing in systemd, also journalctl seems to have nothing related to qB other than things I did on purpose, like zipping the conf files. Any other ideas where I could find something?
Which DE/WM are you using? Maybe some autostart mechanism specific to that?
Its xfce, didnt think of it, but I tried turning everything in the startup settings off... qBit still starting on boot. weird
Certainly odd. Assuming you have already visited Xfce's Session and Startup, also check ~/.config/autostart/
and /etc/xdg/autostart
.
Also nothing in there. Meh, now I'm absolutely out of Ideas. But thanks for your suggestions everyone
Having the exact same problem.
qBittorrent: v4.4.5 Operating system: Arch Linux x86_64 - Endeavour OS Qt: 6.3.1 libtorrent: 2.0.7.0 DE = KDE Plasma
Looked thru all autostart locations and nothing. Hate to uninstall but. . .
Well thats the problem. The linux version doesnt have this option, and its also not in my startup files
Still have the same problem in 2023.
Same problem on Arch,
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.105.0
Qt Version: 5.15.9
Kernel Version: 6.2.12-arch1-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
~/.config/autostart
and /etc/xdg/autostart
have no references to qBitTorrent. No relevant services in /etc/systemd/{user,system}
.
EDIT: Sorry, using qBT 4.5.2
What is parent process of autostarted qBittorrent instance?

I’m sorry, I understand it’s frustrating to see someone point to a possible bug without providing details. I hope you can also see that I have a full time job and a life outside of it. I’d be happy to contribute but the 15 minutes it would take to do so were not possible for me this week. I haven’t spent enough time home, except to sleep and eat I’m sure you understand what that’s like There’s no reason to make it a hostile relationship. I will try to reboot the computer tomorrow so I can answer you. Sent from my mobile device On May 2, 2023, at 08:39, Vladimir Golovnev @.***> wrote: ... and in response, silence. Yes, no problem. Note that my comment above did not apply only to you. There are several affected users here.
system settings -> Startup and Shutdown -> Desktop session -> start with an empty session ksmserver makes qbittroent autostart

Thanks, it works for me. It seems that KDE is the one who restore qbittorrent.
Still a problem for me on XFCE Arch Linux.
qBittorrent & operating system versions
qBittorrent: v4.4.4 Operating system: Arch Linux x86_64 Qt: 6.3.1 libtorrent: 2.0.7.0
What is the problem?
Whenever I boot up my system, qbit autostarts. Of course I already looked into my autostart/startup files, but nothing related to qbit there, so I thought it must be somethiung in the qbittorrent settings/config files. Found nothing there (Though I have to say I dont have any in-depth knowledge on how qbittorrent works, didnt tinker in the settings before, just used it to download stuff) To be sure, I reinstalled qbittorrent several times, searching my system for every trace I could find of qbit and deleting it, then reinstalling it, but still starting up every boot.
Steps to reproduce
Unfortunately I cant remember how the problem began.
