Watch Folder is Being Deleted by qBittorent Upon Run or Closing of qBittorent #1868

Closed EthanPhoenix closed 6 years ago

Hello,

Thank you for this great and useful software!

I am writing here about what I believe is a bug, unless there is something I can't see in the settings (which I've looked through extensively).

The issue comes when dealing with "Watched Folder" and the "Download Here" option.

The watched folder is being deleted after restarting the program - and with it the torrents... :(

I am not sure why is that but the setup seems very easy and there is nothing that indicate such a behavior in the settings.

Please let me know what more information I can give to help solve this problem.

Thank you for your time and all the best!

Version?

Operating System?

EthanPhoenix commented 10 years ago

Doh! Apologies for not providing this essential info before:

Operating system: Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter 64bit

qBitorrent version: 3.1.9.2

BTW, this also happened in earlier versions.

Any news on this? I am running Windows 8.1 and it happens all the time for me.

@chrishirst Any updates on this? I believe I have provided all the required information... Thanks!

Have you updated to a current version

Now at v3.1.12 or v3.2.0

EthanPhoenix commented 9 years ago

Thanks for the reply. Yes I did update it (3.1.12) and the problem is still there.

I have been using QBT for quite some time on my home server with great success but after I just observed this issue also after I've upgraded to V 3.3.0 under Windows 10.

Great work, I really like what you are doing with this app.

Same problem on Windows 8, v3.3.1.

Actually, it's even worse than I thought, because even unchecking Download Here doesn't actually get it to use the default directory, so when I manually reset the location (for seeding purposes) it deletes the now-empty watch folder.

I have the same problem in v3.3.5 on Windows 8.1 Qt: 5.6.1 Libtorrent: 1.0.9.1 Boost: 1.61.0 OS: Windows 8.1 Pro, version 6.3.9600 Build 9600

For me, this issue occurs at startup: If the 'watched' folder (torrent_1_monitor in the screenshot) has no .torrent files in it, then qBittorrent deletes it.
I can prevent the deletion by putting a non-.torrent file in the folder, like a shortcut to this page.

This appears to be the same issue as issue 11561156 from 2013

We are closing all issues related to old qBittorrent versions (qBittorrent < 4.1.0). Please, update to last release and, if the bug/error/crash is still present, open another issue. Thank you.
