Progress bar Shift key issue #19161

Open GitHubinatrix opened 1 year ago

GitHubinatrix commented 1 year ago

qBittorrent & operating system versions

qBittorrent: 4.5.2 x64 Operating system: Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 x64 10.0.19042 Qt: 6.4.2 libtorrent-rasterbar: 2.0.8.0

What is the problem?

When hovering over the Progress bar, the info in the balloon says

Hold Shift for detailed info

For me holding Shift key, with or without mouse clicking, does nothing

stalkerok commented 1 year ago

Move the mouse over the progress bar while holding shift

GitHubinatrix commented 1 year ago

Still nothing happens for me

@GitHubinatrix This is the HINT Balloon you are talking about....

Screenshot 2023-06-14 101228

You have to HOLD the SHIFT key prior to hovering over the Progress Bar for the detailed info. It doesn't automatically show/pop-up from the HINT Balloon as it's not actionable.

Well, the problem then is with this second issue: that I get something like a 1 second delay and I have to move to pointer. So either it is not working properly [as I have to combine pressing of Shift key with mouse movement] or the description is wrong [as it does not mention mouse movement]

Whatever might be the case I would suggest:

A] replacing Shift with Middle Mouse Button or [RMB or LMB] - because we already can conveniently use just the Left Mouse Button to mass select torrents and items on their lists

B] making the change of data dynamic - instead of sticking to the screen the balloon with info and ignoring further mouse movements

C] not making it necessary to move the pointer to see the initial data - i.e. either implementing this behavior or fixing it

D] highlighting on the Progress bar the part for to which the info from the balloon applies - alike to the green indication of what part is being downloaded in a given moment

Now in version 4.5.4 when I hover over Progress Bar in main window there no balloon shows up - while in the Content tab below it shows the percentages i.e. it repeats the info already given to me by the Progress Bar itself

luzpaz commented 11 months ago

@GitHubinatrix can you create a screencast showing the issue ?

GitHubinatrix commented 11 months ago

This shows what I after ~1 a second of me hovering still over that blue 100% bar in the Content:

stalkerok commented 11 months ago

@GitHubinatrix, there is no problem in the screenshot.

GitHubinatrix commented 11 months ago

Well now there is no, because it no longer says

Hold Shift for detailed info

Was this change intended?

stalkerok commented 11 months ago

there were no changes, you need the general tab

GitHubinatrix commented 11 months ago

Move the mouse over the progress bar while holding shift

[...] or the description is wrong [as it does not mention mouse movement] [...]

So when seeing the balloon [with 3 squares with different colors] user has to press Shift, hold it down and only then move mouse pointer

This quite specific set of steps is not clear from the description this balloon provides - and as such should be adjusted to being more informative; or [as I suggested before] use some different method of evoking this alternative balloon with extra info

GitHubinatrix commented 8 months ago

So when seeing the balloon [with 3 squares with different colors] user has to press Shift, hold it down and only then move mouse pointer

To be extra precise- user has to:

1] Go to the General tab and move the pointer over the Progress bar

2] Press and hold down the Shift key

3] Move mouse pointer within area of the Progress bar

4] Stop the pointer within the bar while still holing Shift

And only then a user is able to see that info - which is way too many caveats that are not even precisely described in that balloon with info
