qBittorrent & operating system versions

qBittorrent: 4.5.4 Operating system: macOS Ventura 13.5 Qt: 6.4.3 libtorrent-rasterbar: 2.0.9 Processor: 2.9 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 RAM: 16GB

What is the problem?

Patterned speed fluctuations

Steps to reproduce

Open qbitorrent
Start downloading torrent.

Additional context

Problem persisted before and after increasing Physical memory (RAM) usage limit to 4900 MiB.
However got error "Failed to set physical memory (RAM) usage limit. Error code: 22. Error message: "Invalid argument"" in log when I tried above so not sure if it did actually set.
Above issue also persists on 4.6.0beta1 lt20
File Pool size: 400
Disk IO modes: Enable OS Cache.
Downloading to external ssd connected via thunderbolt with 3000+ MBps Sequential both ways.

I had it at 1000 previously and this was still an issue. I will move back to libtorrent 1.2+ and report back

During this stretch I tried different file pool sizes but the results were unchanged and this is on lib 1.2+

The file pool has more of an effect on the memory used than on speed. If you set it too low, it may also affect the speed. And a five minute time stretch is too short for that. Try using 4.6.0beta1 lt12 and set the connection protocol to TCP only.

@stalkerok that is exactly what I'm on with TCP only.

I am not at the mbp now but in advanced settings there is a feature akin to cache timeout which defaults to 60s. With SSD tinker with it between 17 and 24. OS Cache must be enabled.
