qBittorrent & operating system versions

Qbittorrent 4.6.5 Windows 11 Pro 23H2 22631.3737 x64

What is the problem?

Hi! I don't know if it's already reported yet. The problem I'm facing always happende with older versions of the program on my previouses pc (sometimes I quitted to use Qbittorrent and I started to use other clients to avoid the matter). I normally download files using Qbittorrent and then I seed them for few weeks. After that, I stop sharing and I move the downloaded files in an other folder (and so Qbittorrent shows them in red as "missing files" - please note that I don't remove them form the list in order I know if I already downloaded a file in the past). So it happens, randomly I think - just for few files - when I open a Qbittorrent, the program creates (or download?) a folder of some file already downloaded with a partial content. I erase manually these folders each time, but anytime I restart Qbittorrent they are created again. I hope I've been clear... is there a way to get rid of this problem? Thank you

Steps to reproduce

  1. Complete donwloading fils with Qbittorrent
  2. Move the downloaded files in another folder
  3. The related torrent file are shown as "missing files" in the main Qbittorrent interface
  4. Whenever I open a new Qbittorrent session, some of the missing files create again their folder in the download folder with a small partial content.
  5. I cancel manually these folders in the download folder
  6. from point 4 it happens again

2. Move the downloaded files in another folder

Why don't you move files using qBittorrent? You can stop these torrents after moving them.

4. Whenever I open a new Qbittorrent session, some of the missing files create again their folder in the download folder with a small partial content.

Maybe because the torrents are still in active state? Have you tried stopping them, then moving the files manually?

Maybe it is about files with a zero size?

Can you give me an example of such a torrent? An info hash will suffice (if it is not a private torrent).
