Are you using .torrent files or magnet links?
You may have a software firewall blocking qBitTorrent. ...or your router/modem/ISP may be blocking!
Well I changed around the settings in Windows Firewall, and that kind of helped.
Now instead of having 0(0) seeders and 0(0) peers, I have 1(1) seeders and 1(2) peers (but there are supposed to be a lot more than that, going by the tracker's listings). I tried both .torrent files and magnet links, and magnet links seem to be slightly faster, but provide the same number of connections.
So it'll download, just really slowly due to little connections.
I'm kind of new to torrenting, but is there something where I'll only connect to people that are a certain distance away from me and no one else is in this area downloading this torrent?
Though at some point I could check the router firewall, but if I'm actually being connected after unblocking it with software firewalls, I don't know how much more that will help.
Alright, well it seems to be able to download things fine, albeit somewhat slow, but it does work.
However, now the problem is with uploads, as soon as the download finishes, I instantly lose any connections I had with seeders and peers, despite how many I was connected to the second before. This once again means that my upload speeds instantly drop to 0b/s and it just hangs there forever. I know it's not my firewall, since I already whitelisted the program on my computer and router, so is there something else I could do? I'll update my post to reflect this.
Were you uploading much just moments before becoming a seed? It's remotely possible the other peers finished about the same time as you if the seeds are really slow.
Some ISPs monitor torrent traffic and cut off seeds. (Only a VPN or proxy is likely to avoid that.)
Yes, my upload speeds are fine before becoming a seed, but not enough to maintain a good ratio. The ISP interference sounds the most likely, as I cut out instantly after downloading finishes.
Private trackers/private torrent websites with their ratio requirements also tend to cause peers to be very short-lived. They will also be flooded by seeds trying to upload to them.
Alright, I think it's just a connection thing, because I got connected to one other peer and one of these torrents finally started uploading. Still, if you're saying that peers on private trackers are short-lived, then I don't think that's gonna work out too well for me if this keeps up.
This issue has been closed and locked for being too old, and thus either most likely resolved in recent versions or no longer applicable. If you experience the reported problem or similar in the latest version, please open a new issue report with the requested information in the issue template.
A new issue report with relevant updated data gathered from the latest version is preferable to necroing an old report with a comment like "still happens in version x.y.z", even if you think the bug is the same, or suspect of a regression. Due to the changes made to the qBittorrent code and its dependencies over time, the exact cause of your problem could be totally different than the original one, despite the visible symptoms of the bug being similar. Thus, providing relevant updated information is crucial to find and fix the root cause of a recurrent problem or regression.
Thank you for your contributions.
qBittorrent version 4.0.4 Windows 10 64-bit
What is the problem
Tracker lists the amount of seeders and peers normally, sometimes in the hundreds, but after qBittorrent is done downloading whatever I'm torrenting, both peers and seeders instantly go straight back to 0 connections for both peers and seeders. Upload speeds hang at 0b/s.
What is the expected behavior
Actually being able to upload to maintain a good ratio.
Steps to reproduce
I don't know. I just got this program, so it should have the default settings.
Extra info (if any)
After whitelisting the program with my router and Windows Firewall, downloads work fine, so I know it's not a problem there. I do get connections while I'm downloading, but they instantly disconnect when I start seeding. I've tested this on a few different torrents from a few different trackers with varying numbers of peers and seeders, and they all have the same problem.
