Parallel Searches #9299

Please provide the following information

qBittorrent version and Operating System

qBittorrent 4.1.1 on Windows 10

What is the problem

Currently, the search-button changes to a "stop" during search. This means, there can be only one concurrent search. Would it be possible to implement search like in SoulseekQt? There, each press on the search button launches a new search tab and starts a new search there, while the other searches run in the background. It is possible to see via icon, if the search on that tab is still running or not.

yeah ... the whole multi tab search launch is rendered meaningless ... the moment multi tabbed search was introduced parallel searches should have been part of the same effort ... anyways ... glad the team could acknowledge the lack of it .. i had opened an issue way back in february ... good to see some activity here.

look forward to this enhancement ...

I agree with @aiamuzz having multiple parallel tabs actually work is the intuitive behaviour, thus good UX (I just finished searching 30 torrents only to find each of the tabs aborted :sob: )

I came here to report a bug that qBittorrent is aborting searches when another has started.

Complete disbelief that this hasn't been already implemented in what's considered the top torrent client*. What a glaring design miss. Dev, please consider fixing this. Thank you for your time & efforts.. <3 u

Exactly ... its like saying browser designers designed opening of multi-tabs but forgot to enable loading multiple websites on these tabs ... the Tab design is meant to enable multitasking ... in a search function ... a search is the only function ... aborted searches in a multiple tabs is a glaring misnomer

The fact it has been 3 years since this has been open I think means qBittorent needs to be dethroned like uTorrent.

I guess FOSS as its disadvantages ... in the form of contributors ... can't be very highly critical of any lapses when it comes to FOSS ... I am sure if they had enough manpower(contributors) they would have certainly looked into the multiple simultaneous searches !!!
