qbwaggle / vpnkillswitch

VPNKillSwitch works on Debian systems, including Raspberry Pi (Raspbian). The service will keep your OpenVPN client connected and prevent data transmission if connection to the VPN is lost.

Killswitch does not appear to work when openvpn service is stopped #6

Installation went OK (I tried the script, which didn't work, but did a fresh install and used the manual route - went smooth, after using the same fix as others re cop/paste the scripts instead of wget).

ANYWAY... I wanted to test to see if the killswitch worked. Only way I could think of to test it - because I can't really just wait for the vpn connection to drop - was to sudo service openvpn stop. But, when I kill openvpn, it just bounces back to my ISP IP (I'm using a couple tests - 1 - tracerout google.com while SSHd into the pi - 2 - using the ip-trace torrent file through the torrent client also running on the pi.

So I figure either the killswitch doesn't work - script is out-dated or buggy? - or killing openvpn service is a bad test (in which case, what's a good test?)

Thanks in advance
