Search at https://www.qgis.org/en/docs/index.html does not actually search the docs, or tell the user how! #1215

Description

Go to https://www.qgis.org/en/docs/index.html and search for something in the search bar at the top of the page. It does not search the main docs that the user probably wants to search - it just does a (very slow) search of the changelogs (maybe other stuff too, but I'm not sure what). The user will likely assume that their search term does not occur in the docs, and that the documentation is very inadequate.

To actually search the docs you need to go into the docs first, (e.g. https://docs.qgis.org/3.28/en/docs/user_manual/), and use the search bar above the index on the left.

This situation is very unsatisfactory. Either the search at https://www.qgis.org/en/docs/index.html should include all the docs (at least the latest version - perhaps with some sort of option to do an advanced search), or it should be moved somewhere else, so that people don't use it when they want to search the main docs, or it should a least print a warning something like: "Don't see what you're looking for? This search does not cover the main QGIS docs - go into one of the sets of docs at https://www.qgis.org/en/docs/index.html and then use the search".

Mmm, you are probably right. That (Sphinx) searchbox is a relict when site + docs were in one site. But for a long time the docs are different (sphinx) sites.

So using it on that page will ONLY search in the index of the website.

The fact that we still have this 'index page' for documentations in the website make things fuzzy...

Not sure how to fix this other then having some javascript magic which ONLY on this page (the doc-index pages which is part of the website) hides the search box... there...

But for what I know we will have a new general QGIS website in very near future?
