Live update in 3d View #37890

Feature description. Is it possible to have the 3D view update as the z values are changed in the 2D view?

Additional context Attached is an image showing that I have updated the z value in 2D view but it is not updating in the 3D view. image

It looks like you have not enabled 3D symbology for your points. The screenshot of the 3D Map (1) is the points with 2D symbology.

Have a look here (under 3D Points subsection) on how to enable and set your 3D points symbology: https://www.lutraconsulting.co.uk/blog/2020/02/28/working-with-qgis-3d-part-2/

Thanks. I had already done that. image That is one of my other bugs, my points do not always render in the 3D view. But true, if my 3D points are not showing then how do I know if you have live 3d update? I will wait until I get stable rendering of my points before I complain about this.

Could you upload a sample project with data? What you are showing in screenshots are all 2D rendering of your points in 3D map. The 3D representation of your points should be Cylinders.

here is another plot of the data. and it shows that not all my dots are being rendered. image

for every green dot on at z = 0 there should be a little cylinder. at the location of the black lines.

it comes and goes, much like yours does at about the 3/4 mark. image and gone, image and back. image

much the same as I had with my much harder to see cylinders.

my GPU and CPU are being hammered for no visual improvement

The default zoom level count of 3 results in the lost render. moving the zoom level count to 1 or 5 seem to fix my problem with the render.
