The map canvas rotation can be set. I use this daily. It works well.
It will be awesome if you did not know what rotation degrees will suit but were able to digitize a line ( aware of snapping and advanced digitization tool) that will define the map canvas or layout rotation.
Additional context
Many if not all cad tools have the ability to rotate the screen canvas according to geometry. I know QGIS is not CAD but to a certain extent, it is a design tool.
Examples of similar tools can be found in the Microstation Rotate View tool.
I am trying to develop a plugin or script to do this but need help! I am not a developer....
