"Not responding" once I open the Plugins manager window #58420

What is the bug or the crash?

Not responding when I try to open the plugins Manager and Installer

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Go to 'Plugins'
  2. Click on 'Plugin Manager and Installer'
  3. See error qgiserror

Try uninstalling qgis and then completely deleting the install folder, and then reinstall. This is usually caused by a remnant of an old install in the installation directory.

I deleted the installation folder and then reinstalled but it doesn't work

@lubumoon1437 have you actually tried if the issue occurs also using a new QGIS user profile? Is QGIS able to connect to any Internet resource like the OpenStreetMap XYZ Tiles service? Have you tried to lower the network timeout, e.g. from 60000 (ms) to 1000 (ms) (Settings->Options->Network->General->Timeout for network requests (ms))? Is the URL https://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/plugins.xml?qgis=3.38 reachable using a Web browser on your system?

  1. I tried to create a new user profile in QGIS and it doesn't work. image

  2. For that service do I need the OpenStreetMap plugin? well it doesn't work

  1. from the screenshot it looks like you have only created a couple of new QGIS user profiles, but you are still using the old default user profile. May you please try actually using one of the newly created user profile?
  2. obviously it is not needed to install a plugin, since you cannot install plugins. Yuo just need to add the OpenStreenMap XYZ Tile service layer to a new empty project https://docs.qgis.org/3.34/en/docs/user_manual/managing_data_source/opening_data.html#using-xyz-tile-services
  3. may you please copy and past the error message and the text content of the Log Messages panel tabs?
  4. from the video it doesn't look clear if you actually checked if the URL https://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/plugins.xml?qgis=3.38 is reachable using a Web browser on your system
  5. may you check if the issue also occurs after setting the User interface translation to American English https://docs.qgis.org/3.34/en/docs/user_manual/introduction/qgis_configuration.html#general-settings e closing and restarting QGIS?
