Spacebar to pan, or equivalent #23

In graphics software, I frequently use the feature of holding down the spacebar and dragging to pan. Having panning always so easily accessible is a huge benefit. Does any equivalent already exist in QGIS? If not, it would be a great addition, similar to the 'hide all panels' shortcut just added.
