Window photo viewer CAN'T show the next and previous webp image format.... #95

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.I open webp image format Window Photo Viewer and it runs correctly...(thumbs
up!!)
2.But when I tried to click next picture...nothing happens
3.So, I need to manually open for the next photo by opening the folders where
its contains again(accidentally closed.my bad habits). The point its really
frustrating to open another ping by search first...PLEASE fix this..

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
When one picture.webp is in the same folder with another formats such as jpeg,
png and the others..the next buttons works well. as to be expected. But if all
of the picture is webp format in one folder...the problems...like I said...

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I think using the only one WebpCodecsetup.exe that's releasing in 8 Oct
2011...My Operating System is Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bits..

Please provide any additional information below.
Doesn't have any..but why Google Picasa Viewer 3 for Windows doesn't support
Webp format yet... If that happens in the future..I will change to Picasa
permanently!!...

good) such as to show - WIDTH & HEIGHT Info at Properties in each webp images
format...thanks to be GOOD Listener....:) (GOD BLESS YOU IF MY ALL OF THIS
HAPPEN)

I know about it, but I don't know how to fix this. I can look for some registry
key that would enable WebP files in Prev/Next (but I haven't found anything
yet).

in future? Because if Window Photo Viewer can't solved it. Picasa Viewer will
be the great ALTERNATIVE! I love using & make it default viewer! just curious
to know.....because from what I heard, The WebP project & Picasa Viewer is
under Google right? THANKS FOR REPLY..!

I got a chance to look at this, it seems related to a missing entry for a
PhotoPropertyHandler, i.e.,
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PropertySystem\Pro
pertyHandlers\.webp].

I defined a dummy IPropertyStore implementation GUID [1] and used it to set
this value which seems to be enough. An implementation is not required for this
to work, but will be if the format adds metadata.

Wow! It's great you have found this out. I have a patch on my disk that uses
the built-in WIC metadata reader to shows the same metadata are show for
bitmap: width, height, bpp etc. I will check if this works as well.

This fix has been released as v0.17 of the installer:
 http://webp.googlecode.com/files/WebpCodecSetup.exe

Verified on Windows 7; a cursory glance suggests there may be other issues with
this code on XP (registration etc.), but this release addresses the initial bug
report, marking as fixed.

Get buged again on version 0.18
I need implement this key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PropertySystem\Pro
pertyHandlers\.webp]
with this value
{a38b883c-1682-497e-97b0-0a3a9e801682}

Reopening as the registration only appears to be happening for 32-bit
(Wow6432Node under 64-bit).

The original fix is valid so the key should be:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PropertySystem\Pro
pertyHandlers\.webp]
{780cc6c8-1ca9-4e59-8225-c0f69e3ed512}

This should be fixed this time with the 0.19 installer:
