Abstract

Implement and benchmark the method of coherent error characterization presented in the paper: D. Gottesman, Maximally Sensitive Sets of States, arXiv:1907.05950 [quant-ph]

Description

This paper presents a method for efficiently characterizing coherent errors in gates and measurements using a special set of randomized compiled input stats and measurements. This project would involve implementing it in qiskit and benchmarking its performance using noisy simulation and on real devices. It requires:

• Generating randomized compiled n-qubit GHZ states in the X, Y, Z basis
• Generating randomized compiled measurements in the Z and X basis.
• Pauli-twirling arbitrary gates
• Fitting measurement outcomes to a 2nd order polynomial to estimate coherent error rates.
