Issue confusingly vanished while debugging. If anyone manages to find out a
concrete method of fixing this let me know please.

There was a QT update to V7.7 (1680.34) last night, after installing this
hktunes worked again

Hi there,
When I run that debugging program, I get this message at the end of it:

Failed to get ProgramFilesx64 environment variable.

So it doesn't fix up my G19/iTunes problem.

hkTunes doesn't work on my system either.

Specs:

--Windows 7 Ultimate, fully up to date
--Most recent versions of iTunes and QuickTime.
--I have a SideWinderX4 keyboard and the most recent software for that.
Everything is default on the keyboard side.
--I tried the COM fix listed above too.

With iTunes and hkTunes running, I CAN use the media keys to control iTunes
when iTunes is the active window. The media keys do nothing at any other time.

The newest version of iTunes might fix this issue.

"Fixes a problem where the media keys on some third-party keyboards work
inconsistently with iTunes."

The update didn't fix the issue for me. Hotkeys have always worked when iTunes
is the active window, with or without a program like hkTunes.

Global hotkeys are still not working using hkTunes.

Any luck with this issue?

I tried the "fresh start" approach. Uninstalled iTunes, my keyboard, hktunes,
etc. Some reboots in between to make sure. Then I installed each thing, one at
a time, with reboots when necessary.

Same story. Hotkeys work fine when iTunes is the active window. Global hotkeys
with hktunes are not working.

So weird!

Have tried the steps above and no luck. Can confirm this is still an issue for
iTunes 10.4.1.10 with Windows 7 64 bit. Very frustrating! Why would Apple break
HID/HK support?

As Comment #15 stated, I also tried this w/ iTunes 10.4.1.10 with Windows 7
64-bit and not working.

Is this still necessary? For me it works using iTunes 10.5.0.142 - the last
iTunes version.

Tried a fresh install of the newest iTunes and a fresh install of hkTunes.
Still doesn't work.
