"Trust this application" can't be checked on Android 4.3

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Upgrade an Android device to JellyBean 4.3
2. Try to use OpenVPN for Android to connect to a VPN
3. Note that the checkbox for "trust this application" in the popup is not 
greyed out, but cannot be checked (using the touchscreen).

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Behavior should be the same on 4.3 as on 4.2.2.

What mobile phone are you using?
Google/ASUS Nexus 7 (2011)

Which Android Version and stock ROM or aftermarket like cyanogenmod?
JellyBean 4.3, stock ROM.

Please provide any additional information below.

I am able to navigate to the "trust this application" checkbox using a 
Bluetooth keyboard, and check it with the enter key. From that point on, the 
application performs correctly.

This problem also occurs with other VPN apps on 4.3 (e.g. official OpenVPN), so 
it's not literally a bug in ics-openvpn. It's either a bug in 4.3, or an API 
change that all VPN apps will have to be changed  deal with. I'm posting this 
here in case it's the latter.

Android seem to think that some other apps overlays the confirm dialog and 
there does not let you touch the dialog. Do you have any app that could be 
offending?

Yes, it could be Lux Brightness. I will try turning it off and let you know if 
that works.

Verified - it is Lux Brightness that is causing the problem.

Adding the system app "VPNDialogs" to Lux's exclude list resolves the problem.

You should report that to the author of the app to make it default. I will 
close the bug as invalid since it not really a bug of my app.

I'm having issue in 2nd gen nexus 7 with spotflux and tunnelbear, after 
checking trusting option! It doesnt do a thing kinda crashes!

Open the Lux Dash and tap the settings icon. Tap "Advanced". Tap "Sleep List". 
Tap "Add". Scroll down the list until you get to VPNDialogs, check the box by 
it, then tap "Add".

Had the same issue with a program called "Night Mode". Disabling it before 
running vpn solved it for me.

Had the same issue with an app called Twilight. Temporarily disabling it fixed

how to find other apps that may offend the VPN ?
i have the same problem with OpenVPN, but could not which app is playing behind.

I had the same problem. I couldn't check the "trust this application" box, for 
a VPN app. But the pb was caused by an app called "Twilight". I had to disable 
it and then the problem was solved!

Try search tool application, like lux, pb , copy circle, the ones which works 
on desktop

Same problem here with "Screen Filter" (adjusts brightness by simply applying a 
grey overlay, and allows turning off soft-key lights; even tough I only use it 
for the soft-keys, and turned screen brightness in that app to 100%, it still 
interferes).

Same issue with the "Power Manager" from the Lenovo tablets SW bundle. 
Deactivation solve the issue.

Root Cause: App: Network Monitor (Walton)
Solution: Removing Application "Network Monitor from Walton" from the system

I have S5 with Andriod 4.4.  I have the same issue that "Trust this 
application" cant be checked.  After stop Twilight, now it works.  Thank you!
