[Bug] uYouPlus version v18.08.1-2.3.1 has no notifications settings #978

Open jaff80 opened 1 year ago

jaff80 commented 1 year ago

Is there an existing issue for this?

Have you read the FAQ?

Device info

Describe the bug

In uYouPlus version v18.08.1-2.3.1, there are no notification settings in iOS settings; this means I can not remove the notification badge on the YouTube app icon. I also can not change notification settings for channels on mobile anymore.

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Open YouTube
  2. Go to a channel to which you are subscribed
  3. Tap on the notification bell
  4. Settings will open; tap on notifications
  5. YouTube is not in the notifications section

Crash log (if the app crashes)

The app does not crash.

Are you using the newest version of uYouPlus? If not, why?

✅ Yes, I'm using the latest version of uYouPlus right now

Does the issue happen with the official YouTube from AppStore?

❌ No, I can't reproduce this issue in the official YouTube from AppStore

Additional context

I understand that I can not receive notifications on sideloaded apps, but it was nice to change the notification settings for channels on mobile! Also, there is a cut in the video to remove personal information.

qnblackcat commented 1 year ago

Did you keep the official YouTube? Try to uninstall it if you did

jaff80 commented 1 year ago

@qnblackcat I have the official YouTube already uninstalled.

qnblackcat commented 1 year ago

@jaff80 you uninstall it before or after you install uYouPlus?

jaff80 commented 1 year ago

@qnblackcat When I first installed uYouPlus, I kept the official YouTube app installed, and when I was finished setting up uYouPlus, I uninstalled the official YouTube app.

DelofJ commented 1 year ago

I have the same issue, and I installed uYouPlus without YouTube vanilla installed

yodaluca23 commented 1 year ago

Can confirm I only installed uYou+, and have no notification settings...

acikul commented 1 year ago

i have the same issue, uninstalled official Youtube before installing uYou+

can i export logs somehow

michellichand commented 1 year ago

Same issue. Used to be working just fine before I installed this latest version/

SwagJesus commented 1 year ago

Same here. No notifications. Older uYouPlus versions worked fine before upgrading.

proway46 commented 1 year ago

Same issue but no problem 🙂

ghost commented 1 year ago

I commented on this on a different thread and a dev closed the thread as notification was no longer supported

acikul commented 1 year ago

can something be done to clear icon notification Badge number…mine is stuck on 5 new notifications even though they are not supported…deleting and reinstalling didn’t help

michellichand commented 1 year ago

Wait why are notifications no longer supported?

acikul commented 1 year ago

pretty sure google blocked them somehow

ghost commented 1 year ago

Have you tried overwriting the latest version with the previous version using sideloadly?

acikul commented 1 year ago

i havent, only used AltStore, i will try it

ghost commented 1 year ago

Sideloadly is a lot easier once you get it set up

ghost commented 1 year ago

The other good thing about sideloadly is you can overwrite if the app expires and it's good to go without a complete reinstall

acikul commented 1 year ago

tried sideloadly - didnt help, also tried uninstall -> install vanilla yt & disable notifications -> install uyouplus again and badge for 5 non existant notifs is still present :(

ghost commented 1 year ago

Did you use the remove accounts function before attempting to install with sideloadly?

ebug64 commented 1 year ago

I’m sure this is being looked at already but I want to mention I have the same problem. I also uninstalled OG YT before getting uYou+ over a year ago now. And unlike OP, I don’t have YT settings in my Settings app whatsoever. Also want to specify that I personally don’t care about iOS notifications in the normal sense. I do care about being about to change creator upload in-app notifications (AKA “smashing that bell icon”). I get those notifications from channels I previously had them on for, but with new subscriptions they are set to off by default and can’t turn them back on. Thanks for everything you do!💛

jaff80 commented 1 year ago

I just updated to v18.14.1-3.0; I am still having this issue.

gmanc2 commented 1 year ago

Same issue sadly.

Wrestor commented 1 year ago

I have been experiencing the same thing. Any uYouPlus Version after uYouPlus_18.07.5_2.3.1 (I tested every single version) will not prompt to enable notifications, subsequently causing this Behavior. The notification setting will only populate in iOS settings (this applies to all permissions for every app on iOS) if one is prompted to interact with said permission. (I.e. notifications, photo-library access, location, contacts, ...)

JosephTheSmartPers commented 1 year ago

Same issue, tried reinstalling after removing the original YouTube, did not work... ):

bpavlov commented 1 year ago

I have the same issue (v18.14.1-3.0)

jaff80 commented 10 months ago

I have found a workaround by using Shortcuts for those who only want to remove the notification badge. You only need to use the Open App feature. The downside of this is that you lose the home screen quick actions for YouTube. (The 3D Touch options.) If you want to use the official YouTube app logo, use this website: https://decoupled.app/itunes-artwork-finder/

Wrestor commented 9 months ago

It seems that this is what's causing this bug in every uYou+ version above uYouPlus_18.07.5_2.3.1.

michellichand commented 6 months ago

I still have this issue. I tap 'enable notifications in device settings' and it leads me to a blank page.

Even on the latest release (uYouPlus_19.02.1_3.0.1)?

louaihassan commented 6 months ago

Just installed latest release and still experiencing this issue as well. I updated through AltStore and when I opened the app, I didn't receive a popup to receive notifications. There is no YouTube app listed in Notification Settings as well. Will try a fresh install to see if that fixes anything.

Unfortunately, after testing uYouPlus_18.07.5_2.3.1 and the latest release uYouPlus_19.02.1_3.0.1 the prompt to enable notifications is still not present. This issue therefore remains unsolved, causing a multitude of issues:

  1. Missing notifications-pane in iOS settings
  2. inability to change the bell mode of channels one is subscribed to
  3. in-app button to "prompt to enable notifications" which will never go away since one is unable to do so (Like one can on uYouPlus_18.07.5_2.3.1 for example)

This is very likely caused by a missing AppID as explained by Jester here.

Thanks for the response and for all that you do with this app. Hopefully this gets resolved in a future release!

How did testing go? Are there any updates on this? I have just done a fresh install with a paid developer account using AltStore and also don't have notifications / notification settings with version uYouPlus_19.08.2_3.0.3.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to do any testing.

wondering the same. I did the same thing, paid developer, installed through altstore and I don't have notifications and I can't cast video to my tv either, keeps asking for network access even tho it's granted (separate issue maybe?)

Wrestor commented 2 months ago

I have now sent @qnblackcat a dm. The discord server is https://discord.gg/GSMytM3h Maybe we can get around to testing.

@liamwh @juant87 you will need to use uYouPlus_18.07.5_2.3.1 or earlier if you want to enable notifications(YouTube's Notification center & app badge). Since both of you are using paid developer accounts, you may actually be able to receive push notifications.

level3tjg commented 2 months ago

This issue is caused by launching the app with a spoofed bundle id, not really sure of a way around this since bundle id spoofing is required to sign into a google account. Might just have to add a settings toggle so the user can choose to disable spoofing. It'll break signing in but notifications should work, as long as you're already signed in that shouldn't be an issue.
