Absolutely, we completely agree with this recommendation and it is actually included in the project plan. The initial development step was to develop the software package, specifically an open source package steering away from using a proprietary math engine. The python package will also allow for use on HPCs and very large datasets, a request by some of our external PMF5 expert users.
We do not know when a GUI will be available for ESAT at this time. We also plan on adding new functionality to the ESAT code base, prototyped in Jupyter Notebooks.
Using Python/Jupyter Notebook for the ESAT may create hinderance. You may try to include EPA-PMF like GUI for the ESAT (bundling it as a software package would be great), this familiarity can help its wider adoption. I have some researchers who have shifted from EPA-PMF to So-Fi (while it is paid, it has large number of functions and automation which EPA-PMF lacked).
