Iso playback from ripped DVD #106

There still seems to be an error with xbmc on iso playback.

The above ticket (closed 2 weeks ago) seems to describe the failure of playback of Isos. Given that the merge was only done 2 days ago, I'm confused that this fix is not in xbmc A10.

What seems to be happening is that BMC freezes during the copyright screen, causing the boxee to freeze and not respond to the remote. The boxee is still available via the web, just un functional.

I have also experienced a black menu, followed by a black screen for video playback. The sound seems fine.

Can you host a sample .iso that displays the problem? Debug log?

Ok I fixed the problem, the ISO I ripped played the menu and not the video (blank). Now finding an issue which I have fixed I can no longer see the menu properly but the movie plays..

The root of the problem was libmpeg2.so.0 not being transferred to the dist folder, which I have fixed now. Funnily enough I checked all previous builds and this lib is missing, so must have got overlooked.

I will post a link to the missing lib which if you put in the xbmc folder with the rest of the other libs should work for now as the xbmc.bin reports it being missing in the logs.

You see no 1 is using old school dvd's anymore :P

The very fact nobody uses ISO any more meant the issue went unnoticed, but it's working now for the people living in the past who insist on using them :D

Hi quasar1 - I can confirm all is working correctly for the iso playback. Yes, still with Isos - Too many to convert just now. With video_ts .ifo files on Ntfs all is working correctly. Menus are ok (ish).

.iso files don't seem quite right, I will continue testing. I also noticed non full zoom on one of the videos (a 720x480), again - I'll try some more media and debugging.

You can still use the zoom function by pressing Z on the boxee remote.

I have identified the issue with ISO playback and XBMC. Though the VOBs playback fine. The IFO files do not. It seems to be happening on all .iso files.

This is not an issue I'm going to look into myself but from this log it looks like it's not finding, or couldn't load libdvdcss for some reason. It's in system/players/dvdplayer/ btw.

I wonder if it will work if be tries a newly compiled version rather than the lib I gave him.

as far i as i can see on my own dvd iso. files then it is working but sometimes there is a black screen in the menu but then i just have to press one of the navigation keys and then it shows right away. boxee also had problems with isos. that was menu only filled 1/4 of the screen. it will maybe be better when we reach final. maybe we can close this?

Try the latest build, blank video problem is nearly totally stamped out! To truly fix, convert DVD collection to MKV... That means less storage space, high quality and less CPU utilisation! In other words ...get with the program, ;)

FYI - This error seems to be an XBMC error introduced during the 13.x cycle. It works with XBMC 12.3. See the bug report @ http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/14778

What you could do is download and install a Windows build of the Alpha nightly and see if it exhibits the same problem.

Looks like we have narrowed the bug down to access via the file anger only. Via the vide, file playback it is reading the ifo correctly.
