As stated here, the simulation_df is deprecated. It was formerly used to present a proof-of-concept simulation-data-output, which will not be longer needed. We shoould get rid of the whole struct or rename/replace it by something more useful.
I can't get my head around this at the moment, would appreciate if you could take over @kazux2 !
