Hey,

Im not sure if this hardware is powerful enough to run this codec, but it would be awesome if you could add this in the next release. I have a file to only shows a blackscreen.

Codec: Type: Video Codec: MPEG-H Part2/HEVC (H.265) (hevc) Resolution: 1280x720 Frame rate: 23.976215 Decoded format: Planar 4:2:0 YUV Audio Type: Audio Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a) Sample rate: 48000 Hz

This for this awesome software, and keep up to great work =)

The Boxee's single core is not powerful enough to decode in software mode. You would need a quad core CPU. The chipset is too old to support HEVC to decode in hardware mode. What you can do is source your videos in H.264 or convert your H.265 to H.264. The Boxee does H.264 extremely well (thx to quarnster implementing hardware video decoding).

I have tried to squeeze out as many features and updates as was possible, but now we have hit an inevitable wall. Still the Boxee does everything I want it to and I'm sure many feel the same. All tech devices eventually become obsolete in time that's par for the course.

Any thanks must go to quarnster, a legend in my opinion. Plus all have contributed in one way or another (see quarnsters github and contributor list).

great thanks for the info. After viewing the log file i noticed that the boxee's cpu was running at 100% so i assumed it might at the time where sadly the boxee box isnt strong enough fro this kinda stuff. i tried installing plexbmc and seeing if my plex server would transcode it but sadly it wont try and transcode even when i force transcoding it just wont play.

thanks for the fast reply.

Have you tried Serviio? http://www.serviio.org/

@crazyscow I use PlexKodiConnect to get HEVC playback support on my Boxee, you have to force transcode and make sure it is set to the lowest resolution possible so every HEVC file is transcoded by your server. You also need to make sure your server is powerful enough to transcode (I use a i7-4770).

@HazWard thanks! im using that on raspberry pi with openelec. it works great. Kodi 17 will have the plex app all ready to go out of the box i think. i saw it in the kodi repo. i sold the boxee box last year, but thanks for the tip =D

@crazyscow You're welcome! If I'm not mistaken a Plex Pass is required to use the Plex Add-on for Kodi. Plex will probably open it for every user but now to access it you need a Plex Pass.
