bug: RAM_HOST can be non-integer so integer tests fail and produce warnings #1346

Closed philclifford closed 3 days ago

philclifford commented 4 days ago

I confirm this bug has not already been reported

Describe the bug

RAM_HOST=$(free --giga -h | tr ' ' '\n' | grep -m 1 "[0-9]" | cut -d'G' -f 1) can return non-integer values which produce warnings Also, this for me seems to report total memory (7.8G) not free memory (2.4G) at this point. VMs are being assigned 2G as expected because total mem .

I think we need either

RAM_HOST=$(free --giga -h | tr ' ' '\n' | grep -m 1 "[0-9]" | cut -d'G' -f 1 | cut -d. -f1 | cut -d, -f1 )

or why not just

RAM_HOST=$(free --giga | tr ' ' '\n' | grep -m 1 "[0-9]" )

which effectively gives us round() instead of floor() and saves having to deal with the complications of international decimal points arising from -h that arrived in 22d6932ce2639809a58a30a5de01a5861d538fa7 ?

Please review the past issues that are very similar and make sure this proposed change is not going to introduce any regressions :+1:

https://github.com/quickemu-project/quickemu/commit/22d6932ce2639809a58a30a5de01a5861d538fa7 introduced this regression, and also re-introduces #899. In short, on non-Apple systems, it reverts https://github.com/quickemu-project/quickemu/commit/98e44bbaa897f4745ded973eb5c5c197e928588f without adding rounding back. Human-readable free disregards the unit options, other than whether the specified unit has a metric or binary prefix, and prints one decimal place of all values.
