As far as I'm aware the contents of chests and what not are stored in the actual chunk files so if the chests are empty it's likely that the data couldn't be read...
Can you provide more information as to which version of the mod and minecraft you was updating from and to please.
Also I hope you have a backup because if not then afaik the data is gone...
Heya. It’s Minecraft 1.20.1 What I did was I opened the world in the Amulet Editor. I copy and pasted the chunks that have my house into a brand new world. I also copied over the player data folder
The regular wood chests had all their contents inside, but any expanded chest was now empty

I migrated my world to a new server and everything in the expanded chests are gone. I copied the playerdata.dat files. But what file is the contents of these modded chests located in?
