NoSleep prefpane Crash #2

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. - opening system preferences
2. - "checking" Start NoSleep Utility on a system startup
3. - system preferences then crashes

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- crash/problem report too long for post, I can send it to you if you provide
me with your e-mail address (Sanjit.S@live.ca)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- latest (1.2), mac osx 10.6.7

Please provide any additional information below.
- if you quit the NoSleep utility from the menubar (by right clicking), there
is no way to open it again other then by reinstalling the .mpkg (from my
knowledge)

Workaround: Menu bar application is located in /Library/Application
Support/nosleep/NoSleepHelper.app. You can start it manually or add it to login
items (in System Preferences->Accounts->%username%->Login Items)

Same issue on 10.6.7. Thanks you for the workaround! Haven't tried a restart
yet, but I was able to add it to my login items.

Incase anyone is having trouble finding the 'nosleep' folder, start in the
Library folder under your system HD, not in your user folder.

So the Kernel isn't loading when trying to start the app from Preferences, no
is it loading when rebooting. The only work around I found is that you have to
reinstall it after a reboot, which is a pain.

Macbook Pro 8,2, Snow Leopard 10.6, NoSleep 1.2, same issue as described.
Installation works great, application is loaded and functions appropriately.
On reboot the helper is not loaded. Going into the System Preference for
NoSleep crashes the preferences app.

The workaround for adding the helper application to my users login items works
great. Launching the app manually also works.

Hello everyone!:) Sorry for my low activity on this project. Today I found time
to work on this issue - I've attached a fixed version of perfPane, could you
guys verify that bug disappeared?

Remove your old prefPane by right clicking on it in the System Preferences...
and selecting Remove...
Then uncompress a zip file from attachment and double click on a new perfPane
file (to avoid duplication of icons in future select "Install for all users")

Thanks!
