Peace be upon you Bothers, Ramadan Kareem and May Allāh accept our Good deeds in this generous month. In the Ayah:

Those who associated [others] with Allāh will say, "If Allāh had willed, we would not have associated [anything] and neither would our fathers, nor would we have prohibited anything." Likewise did those before deny until they tasted Our punishment. Say, "Do you have any knowledge that you can produce for us? You follow not except assumption, and you are not but misjudging."

سَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟

The current default

The polytheists will argue,

Saheeh International (The suggested default)

Those who associated [others] with Allāh will say,

The reasoning behind my request:

  1. In the Ayah

Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him?

One's own desire is counted in the general word [others] But when you say polytheists, For someone who does not know Arabic , he would think it is just talking about something that does not exist any more , Like may be Greek and Roman Gods.

  1. Also Argue is not a 100% match to Say:

The word that fully matches the word Argue is used already in the Quran:

And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

The difference between Argue and Say is that argue is a conversation with someone else, but say can be a conversation with yourself, and it is not very common that someone would use that as a debate argument because it implies the lack of free will , and that would most likely be a self talk.

I fear that rephrasing Quran would be distorting words from their [proper] places [i.e., usages] as in:

So for their breaking of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hardened. They distort words from their [proper] places [i.e., usages] and have forgotten a portion of that of which they were reminded.1 And you will still observe deceit among them, except a few of them. But pardon them and overlook [their misdeeds]. Indeed, Allāh loves the doers of good.

I am not asking to remove any translation that tries to rephrase with the good intention of making the Quran easier to understand , But just make the default translation , The one closest to the text as we believe that the Quran is literal preserved word of Allāh, and It does not have to be the one I picked.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
