No write-permission to Google-Drive-Folder #331

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
KeePassDroid Version 1.9.9
Google Drive 1.0.77
1. Open the KDB-File from the My-Drive Folder
2. Add a New Entry
3. By pressing the Save-Button i get an Error-Message:
"/data/data/com.google.adroid.apps.docs/cache/filecache2/51...78/Database.kdb.tm
p (permission denied)"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Does anyone have experience with Google Drive and KeePass? For me, it does not
work.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Defy+ Andriod 2.3.6
KeePassDroid Version 1.9.9
Google Drive 1.0.77

Please provide any additional information below.

I'm going to try it soon enough. Just got 4G here, but it is flaky at times,
and I need to file always available, so....

You might be looking in the incorrect area.

Try this Open the Google Drive application -> offline files ->
Database.kdb.example This should open if not ICS your phone

any changes made to the offline .kdb file don't get pushed back out to the
online version. example:
-so if i open the offline file in keepass
-edit an entry
-press save
-back out of keepass
-go into settings and sync my gmail account
-go back to drive and offline files (noticed it was refreshing
-let it finish before moving on)
-open the offline .kdb file
-the edit is not there

I have the same problem. It will be nice if it works the same way as Dropbox.
I'm using Dropbox at the moment but I prefer Google drive because I have more
storage space on there.

It's not just Keepass that this effects.

"Individual items in the Google Drive app for Android can be viewed offline
when your mobile device has no Internet connectivity. Offline editing isn’t
currently supported."

http://support.google.com/docs/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2440137

CRAZY that we can't send back updated files. Not even manually.

May have to use dropbox (yuck).

Disable encryption in Google Drive and make the file available offline. Then
just open the file from the cache directory
"/data/data/com.google.adroid.apps.docs/cache/...".

I did not listen so much but they were talking about integrating Drive in to
you apps and some new Drive API at the Google I/O.
So my guess is that the feature to write back data to google drive should be
possible whit the new API's

Google Drive supports modifications going back from Android. The following link
should assist:
https://developers.google.com/drive/integrate-android-ui
At the bottom, it says: "When your app modifies files, use files.update to push
your changes to Drive"

Still waiting for an update. I really want to replace dropbox as my daily
driver as I trust google more so with my important files. This is really a pain
if I can't "open with", edit the file, and save back seamlessly. This couldn't
have slipped by the google dev team so there must be something in place.

Same error here.
This, and the absence of a Linux client for Drive, are problematic (to say the
least)...

As a work around my kbd file is in its own folder on google drive, this folder
is then sync'd with my droid every 1hr using a specific folder sync app.
Although not ideal it does let me update my kbd from either my android or home
pc and retain google-drive instead of dropbox.

#20 Can you please say what "folder sync app" you are using? Would be useful
until Drive eventually pays attention to this problem.

I believe Google Drive on Android only permits read-only access. (So this
should be a Google Drive feature request, not a keepassdroid issue.)

Original comment by hugovdm on 7 May 2013 at 12:37

Recieving this error with opening a simple .txt file and try to editing it.
every txt editor has only read only access. only total commander has offered to
change permission and then only i could edit the file with total commander text
editor.

Hi everyone, I have the same problem with SG3 and Note 10.1. The app Kingsoft
office let edit and save to Google Drive, It seems this app save a local copy
and you can save it to the cloud selecting Google Drive, Dropbox, etc selecting
the option save to the cloud and introducing your credentials of the service
you are interested in and finally selecting the directory and upload and
overwrite the existant file. It`s an option to do going the same way while the
better and final solution is implemented.

Forked the KeePassDroid and added some prototype code tonight that allows API
level read and write access for kdb and kdbx files that are stored in Google
Drive. Submitted the pull request as well from
https://github.com/fugisoft/keepassdroid. Getting the Google Drive
authentication to work correctly for an Android app is difficult and the
required permissions that were needed in KeePassDroid may not be acceptable to
users who do not want to use Google Drive. A working version of the prototype
was uploaded to the google play store under the name KeePassDroid For Google
Drive for testing purposes only.

KeyPass. I've switched to DropBox for storing the dbase file.

Keepass2Andorid can write to Google Drive.

I just created a new entry on my phone. And then I opened .kdbx file in the
Google Drive Sync folder. And the new entry was there.

But Keepass2Android is also asking for permission to manage *the entire* google
