qgis-epanet integration #124

Open vpicavet opened 8 years ago

vpicavet commented 8 years ago

We would like to be able to run simulations on a qWAT data model with Epanet, using the qgis-epanet Processing plugin.

This needs some integration effort, mainly creating views on the model for qgis-epanet to find the right data format.

Just noticed https://github.com/USEPA/SWMM-EPANET_User_Interface
It would seem that after the good news that EPA will rebuild the Epanet and SWMM GUI (https://www.linkedin.com/groups/3780529/3780529-6068038287379947524) there's even better news on the roll: they're actually doing it QT and pyqt (https://github.com/USEPA/SWMM-EPANET_User_Interface/wiki/MTP-%231-%E2%80%94-REENGINEERED-SWMM-AND-EPANET-USER-INTERFACE-SHELLS).

There's even talk about a QGIS integrated version!!! https://github.com/USEPA/SWMM-EPANET_User_Interface/wiki/Getting-Started-as-a-Developer

Really really cool.

It seems the developers are interested in community feedback and have started work for about 2 months. If any of you guys has some ideas that may be beneficial for qWat/Epanet and influence their development it would be very nice.

A working solution to export to Epanet with ghydraulics : https://github.com/nliaudat/qwat-to-ghydraulics

haubourg commented 6 years ago

Nice! @qwat/qwat-psc what about a QWAT module adding EPANET views ?

nliaudat commented 6 years ago

Wait ... Epanet & SWMM are under heavy reconstruction and the future engine will be Qgis .... https://github.com/USEPA/SWMM-EPANET_User_Interface/wiki/Getting-Started-as-a-Developer

haubourg commented 6 years ago

Wow, good to know!

:+1: @haubourg The news were already written right on top of this issue but it's very nice that they're more visible now. A big + from me towards a QWAT module adding EPANET views. This module + network tracing tools are two big things that are currently missing IMHO. They're also an effort of improving the hydraulic engine at https://github.com/OpenWaterAnalytics/EPANET
