Formula column documentation & GAQL (or SQL?) query capabilities #1271

It would be great to see some more power built into formula columns and some
better documentation on the capabilities. I could see this product as a great
way to make our business data accessible and (highly) available for consumption
by Google Spreadsheets, but if users need to scrub data downstream (or if DBAs
need to scrub and merge data upstream of the fusion table) it sorta defeats the
purpose of hosting data here.

If Google Analytics datasets could also be imported with GAQL and if tables
could be dynamically pulled and cached using popular standards (SQL) and the
column formula language could come to resemble the power (if not the syntax) of
Google Spreadsheets, this product could become an extremely powerful marketing
stack for startups and SMBs.

Fusion tables already serves NGOs and the media industry, and with some more
powerful features it could bring Big Data to small business too. Someone
somewhere is going to release a great and affordable product that lets
marketers overlay sales, customer and analytics data against public datasets
like weather patterns and CPI trends, and it seems like Google already has a
head start to be first to market with that.
