For compatibility with some contracts, QZ Print / QZ Tray was written with a QZ Industries Source Code Licence which allowed proprietary usage of the codebase.
This proprietary license was granted on a per-request basis, but it is difficult to maintain, not available publicly and it is no longer available for purchase on our website. Furthermore, any proprietary source header can discourage community contributions.
For contractual purposes, the 1.9 branch will continue to be dual-licensed, however the 2.0 can and will be 100% open source licensed.
Furthermore, this will also explicitly place all API examples into Public Domain so that there is absolutely zero license conflict when using source code examples from the Wiki, our API, or our Signing Examples.
