Could we change this to: what cybersecurity certifications do you recommend I get?

tweedge commented 2 years ago

We could - if you want to write that, we'll change this to that question.

Though in the future, we might want a certifications FAQ to provide more granular information, as questions about common certs come up frequently.

As an interim solution a question covering the main certs would be good since it is one of the most asked questions but in the near future a page covering it most would be great. I can give it a go if @eric16lee doesn't want to write that.

tweedge commented 2 years ago

Could do both honestly - like what are the most common, and then if/when a 'common certs FAQ' is available, we'll get that launched too

A couple of days have passed and no one picked this question so I'll write it :)

Sounds good!

If it's alright, I can suggest some entry level cyber security courses which I myself am planning to get. The first would be eJPT (eLearning Junior Pen Tester) from INE, its an entry level cert with the course material available for free from the INE website and its gaining reputation as well. Next would be CompTia Security+ because it's the most popular one to be included in a job requirement and also has good content as well. I would also recommend CCNA from Cisco (not a cyber sec cert per say) as it's good to have your networking basics strengthened for any cyber security cert or job is what I feel. Hope this helps.
