I think the best we can do for now is setting up a "Source string bug reporting address" that will be used if someone writes a comment on Weblate for a string with the "Source string comment, suggestions for changes to this string" option:
Maybe the best would be to collect these outside of R core (e.g. a mailing list?) and compile a list of suggestions along with the quarterly patch files?
@lawremi had a great suggestion to create a new Slack channel, generate an email address that ingests messages, and use that as the "Source string bug reporting address". This way folks can monitor suggestions and also can discuss it in the related thread.
@hturner I think only you have the power to create new channels, and probably also to create a related email address. Can you help with that? Maybe call it #core-translation-po-source-fixes or similar.
Unfortunately emails for Slack channels are a paid feature. However we might be able to get it working by using plus addressing on the forwards gmail account. E.g. set the address as rowforwards+string-bugs@gmail.com and then set up a bot with Zapier or similar to send to a Slack channel. We already use Zapier on the Forwards Slack and that seems to be an option.
I have been able to set it up directly with Zapier, I will send you the email on Slack to use in Weblate (not posting here to avoid any spam).
Thank you very much -- the email address has been configured for all components.
