Ideally we would have a smooth R 4.3 -> R 4.4 transition.

With 13ed86d8ed69a6381eb6265cc39a720ab0133f7f and 86b8d5932e23c448730b8c32cf631b6354667594 now we fail when R-devel is updated.

Not great, but much better than building the wrong binaries.
