I'd expand "REF" to whatever it means, too (I do log parsing day-to-day, and I'm unfamiliar with it) but, well, I'm unfamiliar with it ;p

Thank you again! Silly me I forgot to actually add a reference instead of my placeholder :cry:. If you have a good reference talking about parsing server logs I will use it, otherwise I will just put a link to a stackoverflow query.

Do academic papers count? I can point to a few of those, but... ;p.

this is a classic, and the first paper that comes to mind; bit dated, but.
