The Git repositories that source packages in the R-universe can be privatized or deleted by users (intentionally or accidentally), and it would be great if something like https://github.com/cran, which stores all R packages on CRAN, existed in the R-multiverse to guarantee the preservation of the source code of all packages.

Yeah, a separate GitHub mirror (for each universe) would help with availability.

Alternatively, https://github.com/r-universe-org/help/issues/149 might meet this same need if implemented at the R-universe level.
