Thanks a lot. I've learnt a lot. Your course came at a great time for me - I'm comfortable with the command line and have been using github and git, but realise now that I had just scratched the surface.

Just a few really useful things I've leant/done:

• version control in general. I was still saving different file names, and also committing changes which introduced bugs without ability to step back to a previous version.
• ssh transfer. Saving me time retyping my password whenever I push. Question on that: I have also set up two factor authentication on github. That seems to break my ability to push commits without setting up ssh first. Is that correct? It's no problem to reset each repo I'm working on to use ssh rather than https but could be useful to have a quick option for one-off pushes.
• using git as a tool more widely. Can easily use with non-code directories as well for version control of documents. Might experiment with this.
• sed command in terminal. What an awesome tool for copy and pasting within a document. Do you use this much? Was a really efficient way of changing code in the example from chapter 6.2 in Pro Git.

I have not tried switching a repo from using HTTPS to SSH, but seems from this doc it might just be a matter of switching the remote.

I haven't used sed - will look into how it works, thanks for the heads up! 🙂
